Privacy Policy: Nova Video Manager

Last updated: 25/11/2025

Nova Video Manager is a WordPress plugin that connects your website to your YouTube account in order to sync your videos and related metadata into WordPress. This plugin provides backend functionality only and does not collect or transmit personal data to Nova Strategic or any third party.

Information the Plugin Accesses

To sync videos from your YouTube channel, the plugin uses OAuth 2.0 to obtain read-only access to the following YouTube account data:

  • Your YouTube channel information
  • Your videos (public, unlisted, and—if you allow it—private)
  • Video metadata such as title, description, publish date, duration, tags, playlists, view count, like count, and comment count
  • Thumbnails generated by YouTube

This access is limited to the Google account you authorise during setup.

Information Stored on Your Website

The plugin stores synced data as WordPress content:

  • Video posts (nova_video post type)
  • Video metadata in ACF fields
  • Synced playlists (as WordPress categories)
  • Synced tags (as WordPress tags)
  • Optional member profiles (nova_member post type)

All data is stored locally on your WordPress site.

OAuth Credentials & Tokens

  • OAuth Client ID and Client Secret are entered by the site administrator and stored in the WordPress database.
  • Access tokens returned by Google are stored in the WordPress database and are encrypted using WordPress’s native secret keys and salts.
  • Only WordPress administrators can view or modify these settings.
  • You can disconnect the plugin at any time, which removes the access token from your site.

What the Plugin Does Not Do

  • It does not send any data to Nova Strategic or to any external server other than Google’s YouTube Data API (for the sole purpose of fetching video data).
  • It does not track users or collect analytics.
  • It does not store, transmit, or request sensitive personal information.
  • It does not modify or delete content on your YouTube channel; it only reads data.

Third-Party Services

This plugin interacts only with:

YouTube Data API v3 (Google LLC)
Used exclusively to fetch read-only video and channel metadata.
Google’s privacy policy applies when authenticating with OAuth:
https://policies.google.com/privacy

Your Responsibilities

If your WordPress site has end users or displays synced content publicly, you are responsible for ensuring that your site’s overall privacy policy accurately reflects how video data is displayed or processed.

Removal of Data

You can remove all data created by the plugin by:

  • Deleting synced videos
  • Deleting synced member profiles
  • Deleting the plugin and optionally removing its custom post types and ACF fields

Disconnecting OAuth access will revoke the plugin’s ability to sync further data.
